  2. Why so early? • Application deadlines begin in early February and March • Some deadlines are even earlier • Scholarship opportunities • The earlier you apply, the better chance you have of receiving a scholarship

  3. Why summer programs? • Something to do over the summer • Hone your interests, explore new things • Experience college during high school • Meet a lot of people • Have fun!

  4. ASU Barrett Summer Scholars • ASU, Tempe • 8th & 9th grade: $1200 for 3 weeks. • Classes offered: Engineering, Architecture, Biology, Computer Digital Animation, & Human Event • Month of June • www.asu.edu/barrettsummer

  5. EPGY Summer Institutes • Stanford University • Dates: Sessions last from June to July and from July to August • $4,200 for sessions 1&2; $5,400 for session 2E

  6. EPGY Summer Institutes (continued) • 3-4 week residential program on the Stanford Campus • Students study a specific course taught by Stanford instructors: math, science, writing, humanities, computer science, engineering, business, legal studies. • http://epgy.stanford.edu/summer/highschoolprogram.html

  9. YAWPYoung Adult Writing Project • ASU • The month of June • $300 per student • summer writing project for students grades 8-12 students integrate meaningful and authentic writing into their life work. • See ASU Community Connect for details.

National Institute of Health Summer Internship in Biomedical Research • Laboratories located on several campuses throughout U.S. • Students must be 16 yrs or older. • Deadline to apply: late February, early March. • Students who have been accepted into a college or university may also apply. • Program lasts 8 weeks
