  1. Me to We Project for 2012-2013 How can you encourage Moody students to make a difference? What can you do this year to make a difference?

  2. What kind of change maker are you?

  3. What kind of changemaker are you? • If you are unsure about what kind of changemaker you are, click on the link to take the quiz • https://storyofstuff.secure.force.com/changemakers/quiz

  4. Criteria • Work by yourself or with a small group • Choose a cause/activity that fits YOU not your friend • Will have to present your cause at the “You Make a Difference Assembly” on Friday, Oct. 26th (no more than 2 minutes) • Choose a cause/action that is right for this age group, time span, your interest (you can’t save the world overnight) • Should encompass the whole year but we can discuss this • Could be a local or international cause • Eg. See the Me to We website for ideas

  5. Me to We (club?) • Can we incorporate other students into our projects? (eg. Bake sales every month for a cause-other students help you out) • Invite students to be interested in your cause and help you out • All year activities

  6. Ideas! • Collect dead batteries to be recycled for the zinc (baskets in each pod) • Collect clothing for Share-incentives? • Clothing exchange • Petition for school supplies? • Monthly candy sales for a cause • Haunted house for a cause • Composting –litter free lunch every Friday • Collect used sporting equipment (runners too!) • Bottle drive for a cause-building wells • Equal rights- a day…. 10. Money for Charity-Miranda Anderson’s ideas • UNICEF has saved more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organisation. A gift of $50 will provide 20 litres of therapeutic milk to children in need, $100 provides a family with 7 water sanitation kits, which includes collapsible water containers, soap and water purification tablets or a gift of $500 can provide 20 emergency first aid kits that contain equipment used by healthcare centres and mobile health workers during emergencies or whenever children in the developing world need immediate aid. • Collect money for UNICEF by doing a candy and bake sale. • Set it up in the front hallway in “A” building • Sell from October to beginning of November • Goal: to reach at least $150, but it would also be great to get $650 (then we can get everything on the list above) • Add up money, and send to UNICEF

  11. Clothing Donation • Allows them to use our donation in the area of greatest need • Put a box/bin in each class for clothes to be put in, and tell teachers to keep track • Go from January to February (for Winter) • Every 5 pieces of clothing, you get a raffle ticket for 1/10 candy boxes • Every 10 pieces of clothing, you get a raffle ticket for a $40 mall gift card • Collect all donations, and send/give to Big Boy

  13. “Tiny Bundles” • Gifts to Tiny Bundles purchase food for families with pregnant and nursing moms and children under one year old. Our gift helps purchase milk, cheese, eggs and produce for these families who also receive a weekly hamper. This added nutrition will help give the baby the best start • Put a box/bin in each class for gifts to be put in, and tell teachers to keep track • Go from beginning of April to end of May (for something to give during that time) • Pod that gives the most gifts wins ice-cream for dessert • Collect all donations, and send/give to SHARE
