Eight Days later… • Peter “I am going fishing” • Thought apostleship was finished • Hoped Jesus would establish earthly kingdom • Matt. 28:7 - see him in Galilee - Angel • Matt. 28:10 - meet me in Galilee - Jesus • Matt. 28:16 “Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.”

  5. Apostles Fishing Fished all night = nothing “Do you have any food to eat?” “No” “Cast your net on right side”

  6. The Miracle • Caught 153 Fish • Net was not broken • Jesus provided food • John 21:13 “Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise.”

  7. The Miracle Proved His Resurrection Raised from the dead Was in the Flesh Keystone of Christianity If dead not raised… 1 Corinthians 15 No power over death “If a man die, shall he live again?” Job 14:14

  8. The Miracle May be fishing On wrong side Apostles had failed ….fishing on the wrong side of boat We are to be fishers of men Acts 8:4 “everywhere preaching the word” Be careful not to fish on the wrong side !!!

  9. The Miracle May be fishing On wrong side Fish were souls are responsive “Cast not your pearls before swine” Mt.7:6 Rich - may not be best Common people “And the common people heard him gladly.” Mark 12:37

  11. The Miracle Jesus provides Necessities Breakfast for apostles Will provide for us - ----- Matthew 6:25-34 do not worry feeds birds “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness: and all these things shall be added unto you.” v. 33

  12. Miraculous catch of fish…. Beginning of ministry - Luke 5 After his resurrection - John 21 Jesus Taught Peter that… His fishing days were over If you love me then feed the flock Peter preached the first sermon – Acts 2 Became a great fisher of men

  13. Before he ascended to heaven…. “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth” Mt. 28:18 Miracles prove his power on earth Power of Gospel today to save men
