  2. Q and U are getting married!! • They want all of their friends there! • Each letter will be a guest. Please join us in the marriage of Q and U,, Saturday the 6th of November at 7:00 in the evening, First United Methodist Church. Reception to follow. RSVP (Regrets only) 999-999-9999

  3. Activity: Make the Guests • Kids will make the letter guests. • Rules= Must be over 2 in. tall • Must stand up by itself • Has to be legible • Each letter needs to bring a gift! • Gift starts with letter’s sound • Ex: B would bring bowls

  4. What do kids learn? • Construction, building, using simple tools • scissors, glue, what paper works? • Alphabet sounds • Recognize letters • Q and U blended sound • Scientific inquiry • building, design, creating

  5. My Modifications • Added idea about letter brining guests • Will help learn letter sounds • Make guests in shape of letter • Not just person with letter on him

  6. Critique • Age group: K • Good for young kids • Reinforces alphabet • Lets them be creative • Challenge: making letter stand up • Teach them good way to do this • LOTS of supervision required with scissors, etc. • Fun and integrative • Will stick with them; memorable!
