  4. Why audio interfaces (1) ? • Hardware: They may be operated from minimal display units, solely through keystrokes, microphones and loudspeakers in mobile units. Established communication technology like PDA´s, mobile phones, or hearing aids applies well.

  5. Why audio interfaces (2) ? • Software: New standards (e.g. VoiceXML and SALT), integrates voice technology with the web environment and across platforms. Interfaces may be controlled by speech recognition or by traditional input methods (keyboards or touch-tone). • Syntetic speech is finally mature

  6. Why audio interfaces (3) ? • Usability: Interaction may become hands-free and thus operated by a minimum of attention. • Blind- or low-sight citizens may immediately interact by speech and sound.

  7. Why audio interfaces (4) ? • Industry: Denmark has a long tradition and strong market position for audio products of high quality, in e.g. hearing aids, head-sets and multimedia equipment.
