  3. “BIKESHARE” Program Purpose: • To promote bicycle commuting -Benefits: Health, Costs, Environmental • To provide affordable transportation to residents in transitional housing, as they work towards self-sufficiency and permanent housing -Residents borrow bikes to ride to school, job interviews, medical appts., training programs, shopping, etc. -Onsite case managers administer and oversee bike use and care

  4. “BIKESHARE” Program Provides: • Partnership • Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition (Non-profit Organization) • Diego Binatena (Project Advocate and Coordinator) • Two Transitional Housing Agencies (Project Beneficiaries) • Bikes • Safety Equipment • Education (Ongoing Bike Safety and Maintenance) • Bike Storage • Program Signs and Labels “Do A Good Turn Daily!” -Boy Scout Slogan

  6. Jovenes Inc. Center, Boyle Heights Male Youth 18 to 25 years Self-Sufficiency Services On-Site Emergency Housing -> Transitional Housing -> Permanent Housing

  7. 20 New Electric Bikes "The L.A. County Bicycle Coalition is excited to be partnering with Diego Binatena on this project. We believe that a bike share program is a perfect fit for transitional homes by providing a low-cost, healthy transportation alternative that meets the needs of their clients and fits with their goals of self-sufficiency.“ – Colin Bogart, L. "The bike share project will help the homeless youth at Jovenes travel to work and job interviews, run errands (like grocery shopping) throughout the neighborhood, and get some great exercise. -Eric Hubbard , Development Director, Jovenes Center Bike Racks Volunteers will deliver, assemble, and install bike racks
