  23. How to work with the Italians… • The first business approach is quite formal • You should address to Italian people by calling them with their family names preceded by “Signor” or “Signora”, or the right titles if you know they are “Architetto” or “Ingegnere” Please, note that “Dottore” or “Dottoressa”, can easily substitute “Signor” and “Signora”, and do not refer to a PhD person but are used for all graduates! • Dress smart and… possible Italian • Corporate hierarchy matters • Be prepared to be invited to a really nice restaurant and spend some time for your business luncheon…

  24. Conclusions • Florida has one of the highest international profiles among US states, but the historical focus has been on trade with Latin America. • The State of Florida has become a key market for European manufacturers, but Florida is not getting an equivalent slice of Europe trade opportunities. • Investment trends between Florida and Europe are buoyant especially in Services, Life Sciences, and ICT sectors. Florida is becoming a knowledge economy • Europe cannot be treated like a federal United States; each market requires a different approach • Condition for US firms trading with EU are highly favorable due to: • Growth in Europe Economy • Favorable US Dollars/Euro exchange rates • Growth in Florida key sectors (Life Sciences, ICT, Transportation equipment…) • Europe is closer than some region like the West Coast Canada, South America • and we really like Americans!
