  2. Charlotte Doyle • A young woman who wants to become a lady. • She is 13 years-old. • She is on a voyage to Scotland. • “I’ll be happy to add a second shilling.” I volunteered, thinking that a low offer was the problem. p. 10 • “Might I say good-bye to my chaperon? She’s been very kind.” pg. 8

Mr. Grummage • A gentleman who took Charlotte Doyle to the Seahawk. • He was dressed in a black frock coat with a stove pipe hat. • He has a somber, sallow face with no emotion. • “Miss Doyle, in my world, judgments as to rights and wrongs are left to my Creator, not to children. Now, be as good as to board the Seahawk. At once!” p. 15 • “Do? Miss Doyle, your father left orders that you were to travel on this ship at this time. I’ve very specific, written orders in that regard. He left no money to arrange otherwise. As for myself, I’m off for Scotland tonight on pressing business.” p. 14

  4. Seahawk • A ship that was sailed by Captain Jaggery, Charlotte Doyle and other crew members. • “the Seahawk was what is known as a brig, a two-mastered ship.” pg12 • “The dockside was deserted and growing darker.” pg 13

Captain Jaggery • Captain of the Seahawk. • He is very strict and sometimes very proper. • He become friends with Charlotte Doyle. • “I intend to crush this mutiny before it starts” p. 87 • “Fair? These men meant to murder me and no doubt you, Miss Doyle, and you talk of fair? If it’s fairness you want, I could quote you chapter and line of the admiralty codes that say I’d serve justice best by shooting the cur.” p. 99

  6. Zachariah • A cook who works for Captain Jaggery in the Seahawk. • He becomes friends with Charlotte Doyle. • He also guides Charlotte Doyle from place to place. • “Miss Doyle…believe me. There may be a need.” pg37 • “I wish to thank you (Zachariah) for your kindness during the time." said by Miss Doyle Pg 37

  7. Mr. Keetch • Another sailor who works for Captain Jaggery in the Seahawk • “said Keetch, who if anything, has grown even more tense after his demotion” pg 131 • “Keetch”…. “Exactly, who(Keetch) from the start, kept me well informed about the crew” pg 197
