  2. Promote structured Continuing Education for Veterinarians in practice, that is: Quality assured by accreditation Achievable while in full time practice discipline focused with recognition of completion . In accordance with chapter 5 of services directive Vision & Objectives

FECAVA working group on Post Graduate C.E formed spring 2008 Needs and goals identified and refined Information from FECAVA directors on existing schemes gathered Liaison and discussion with other interested groups or potential partners E.g.. FVE, UEVP, Statutory Veterinary bodies some education providers Seek partners for a pilot scheme –4 Greece , Ireland, Poland and Spain interested . Summary of work to date

  4. Aimed at practitioners in full time practice C.E Needs of a practitioner : general refresher Special interest focus * NOT a specialist Candidates wishing to become a Recognised specialist must follow the guidelines of EBVS ie recognised residency programs etc Scope

  5. Composition FECAVA (3) ECCVT (UEVP/FVE, EBVS, EAVES)(3) Statutory Bodies (3) +invited observers e.g. Commission, OIE etc Nomenclature : EVACE European Veterinary Accreditation for Continuing Education . Accreditation committee to be established

  6. A voluntary accreditation system i.e. quality system Not a qualification therefore no need for an awarding body Certificate of completion of an accredited modular course and assessment Both delivery and content will be quality assured by accreditation Qualification or certification ?

  7. Mutual recognition of existing national statutory system of regulation In accordance with UEVP position paper on CPD EVACE will provide recommendations and assistance to members countries. Harmonization

  8. Accreditation system & documentation to be developed E.g.. Procedures and protocols , Dossier of competencies etc Curriculum to be developed and trialled 3 pilot countries to test system Greece,Ireland,Spain ,Poland Work plan

  9. Initial meeting of accreditation committee representatives during Hanover meeting Next meeting March 2009 Work to commence from now Happy to receive information from members on existing systems Next steps
