Objectives • Provide a communication tool for stakeholders in the field of teacher education and professional development. • Provide a space for policy-makers for sharing discussions, knowledge and policies in the field of teacher professional development. • Strengthen the capacity of teachers at all levels by equipping them with innovative pedagogical skills through online professional development in order to improve the quality of education

  3. Online Courses “Teacher Education for 21st. Century Teachers” Course in English Guyana, Jamaica, St. Vincent y The Granadines, Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname, Antigua & Barbuda, Belize, St. Lucia, Bahamas and St. Kitts & Nevis. Course in Spanish Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Uruguay, Dominican Republic, Perú, Ecuador, Honduras, México, Haití, Brasil and Paraguay

  4. Actions 2010-2011 A surveywas conducted to ITEN’s stakeholders. (About 500 surveys were completed and analyzed) Market research on similar initiatives Different platformswere analyzed

  6. Next Steps • Maintenance and update of ITEN’s site • Adaptation of ITEN’s content and courses for secondary schools teachers • Content for schools principals. • Seminars for policymakers in ICT integration in education systems.

  7. Partnerships • Content for schools principals • Seminars for policy-makers • Online course platform • Map of higher education in LA and the Caribbean • ITEN will start the preliminar phase of the map with a study in 5 countries in LA and the Caribbean.

What is needed from CIE • Diffusion of the initiative within the Ministries of Education and Universities. • Contact with education portals and Departments of Press to publicize news, newsletters etc. • Articles, contents, scholarships, job opportunities, conferences, seminars, etc, to upload in the ITEN website. • Consideration of proposal for continuation of activities during 2011.
