  2. Yarn for Seaming • Use yarn used for item except: • Novelty yarn • Mohair • Nubby or bumpy yarn • When substituting • Match color and washability • Knitting yarn, needlepoint wool or embroidery thread

  3. Pin Seams First • Use stitch markers to pin • Order for pinning • Top • Bottom • Middle • Quarter points • Pattern matches • Ease sides and patterns to match

  4. Seaming Order • Join shoulders • Attach sleeves • Seam sleeves from wrist to underarm • Seam sides from bottom to armhole

  5. Fundamentals • Block your swatches • Take your time • Plan ahead • Don’t inc or dec in the selvedge • Think about your stitch or color pattern • Allow a selvedge stitch for seaming • Seam on a table with the right side up • Match up CO and BO edges

K1P1 Ribbing Seam • Plan so that the left side ends with K2 and the right side starts with K1P1 • Insert needle from bottom to top under the “smile” between the K1 and P1 on the right side • Insert the needle from bottom to top under the bar between the 2 K stitches on the left side • Alternate to the top • Ease Stitches as needed
