  2. Intent: • Increase Awareness of Contracting Opportunities • Ensure “Bang for the Buck” of OUR Tax Dollars • General Focus on Federal Sand Box? • “Good Old Boys” State Sand Box?

  3. Background: • Joint Interim Committee House and Senate • Established by legislature in 1984 to oversee contracts prior to award – last step before going to Governor • Reviews Services Contracts only • Meets first Thursday of each month in Montgomery • Subpoena Power/ Can hold contracts for 45 days • Accepted Chairmanship position in Nov 2010 • re-nominated as Chair in 2012 • “Dog and Pony Show” in years past • Press generally stopped attending in early 2011

  4. First 6 Months Review… • Fears Confirmed - • Significant $$$$ Flowing Out Of State • $88M Total Awarded • $45M Going Out of State • Pass Through of Federal Funds • Discovered Archaic Advertising of RFPs • Non-compete re-awards • Abuse of “Sole Source”
