  4. Benefits of the certification • More knowledge about easting disorders in general, especially with the case studies and the required classes • Opens up job opportunities for the dietitian in the field of eating disorders

  5. Career Advantages • As a dietitian you become more credible to clients because you a certified • Thus able to help ore people so jobs can open up • Feel more secured I your job due to the furthered education and are more confident in your abilities as a dietitian

  6. The Process of becoming Certified Required Classes: The certification is through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (Iaedp) and is done mostly online through their website. They have a list of classes that are required to receive the certification. The classes are broken into groups: Behavioral (9 credits), Skills (12 credits) and nutritional (9 credits). In addition it is required to take 3 semester credits in practicing standards and ethics. You can mark off classes if you have already taken them previously

  7. The Process of becoming Certified • More required classes: • 6 hours of continuing education in body image, intuitive eating and food issues • The certification through the iaedp also requires that the applicant complete “core courses” online which deal very specifically with eating disorders

  8. The Process of becoming Certified • Working in the field • Its required that you have 2000 direct eating disorder hours supervised by an approved supervisor in iaedp or have an approved equivalent • Also the applicant has to complete a 1500 word case study. In this study the applicant works one on one with an eating disorder patient and diagnosis them and describes their treatment, outcome, and recommendations

  9. The Process of becoming Certified Final steps: • Must then take and pass the iaedp certification exam that can be taken online • Then must write a statement of intent and sign the ethics statement and submit them in with an application complete with a passport photo and application fee of $150.

  10. Not a requirement No information on if it was to be renewed or if it has any continuing education required Also having a portfolio is not needed, just noting that the requirements have been met.
