  2. Who is the Church?

  3. WE are the CHURCH

  4. Who are we? 1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.”

  5. Therefore… The health message was given to this Church so that His chosen people, could live a quality lifestyle and extended their years as they await for the Second Coming of CHRIST.

  6. Health Reform is a branch of GOD’s special work for the benefit of His people. 1 Testimonies for the Church, 488

  7. Our gracious heavenly Father sees the deplorable condition of men who, some knowingly but many ignorantly, are living in violation of the laws that He has established. And in love and pity to the race, He causes the light to shine upon health reform. Testimonies fortheChurch, vol. 3, page 161

  8. Do we get any benefit? • Surely, YES! • Yet…Not enough, as to be a Model Church

  9. Three tips to benefit more from the Health Message • Change the “Stigma” that usually identify the Health Reform or the Health Message.

  10. Health Message is a lifestyle • It is NOT a doctrine of salvation • It is intended to educate, not to be misunderstood.

  11. The Health Message does not focus only on physical health. It also involves: -- Mental, Emotional, Social Health and -- Spiritual Health

  12. The improvement of the mind is a duty which we owe to ourselves, to society, and to God. But we should never devise means for the cultivation of the intellect at the expense of the moral and the spiritual. And it is only by the harmonious development of both the mental and the moral faculties that the highest perfection of either can be attained. Mind, Character, and Personality, vol. 2, page 374

  13. But few realize the power that the mind has over the body. A great deal of the sickness which afflicts humanity has its origin in the mind and can only be cured by restoring the mind to health.2MCP 396 Mind, Character, and Personality-vol. 2, page 396

  14. Care for the physical structure and environment of the church building. --The place where we adore GOD must be according to His glorious presence. • Clean, hygienic • Nicely adorned with trees, flowers, plants… • Serviced with water, electric power… • A place where our guests will be comfortable

  15. How can we do it? • Invite volunteers to form a sanitation crew to clean the church and its surroundings. • Provide lectures and speeches on hygiene and health. • Motivate members to participate in frequent cleaning brigades. • Encourage them when results are seen.

  16. Questions for Reflection • Am I caring for my body, which is the Temple of the HOLY SPIRIT? • Am I caring for the temple, where we attend to worship GOD?

  17. The Health Message is Integral/Complete • Every Church, each institution, MUST be a Integral Health Center to Serve the Community

  18. Health Message in the Church • Health Message (HM) is a part of all other ministries of the Church. • HM connects and embraces all other ministries. • Health is Youth • Health is Family • Health is Children • Health is Dorcas, Deacons, Deaconesses, Elders…

  19. “We have come to a time when every member of the church should take hold of medical missionary work. The world is a lazar house filled with victims of both physical and spiritual disease. Everywhere people are perishing for lack of a knowledge of the truths that have been committed to us. The members of the church are in need of an awakening, that they may realize their responsibility to impart these truths.” Testimony Treasures, vol. 3, page 102

  20. “The Lord has presented before me that many, many will be rescued from physical, mental, and moral degeneracy through the practical influence of health reform.The principles of health reform will be received with favor, and many will be enlightened.  Testimonies fortheChurch, vol. 6, page 378

  21. Ministers and people must make greater advancement in the work of reform. They should commence without delay to correct their wrong habits of eating, drinking, dressing, and working. • Testimonies for the Church, vol. 1, page 466

  22. Every church, every family, needs to be instructed in regard to Christian temperance. All should know how to eat and drink in order to preserve health.    • Testimonies for the Church, vol. 6, 378
