  2. Classical Indian dance has a history of over 2000 years but has evolved considerably during that time. South Kolkata Nrityangan, a classical dance institute in kolkata was established in 2005. The premiere Classical & Contemporary Dance group in Kolkata teaches Bharatnatyam, an Indian classical dance form. The main focus of this Classical & Contemporary Dance group in India is to enhance interest in and promote Bharatnatyam, one of the oldest and graceful classical dance forms, among their students and to give them a proper platform for their future, as well as to spread our rich Indian culture in the National & international arena.

Bharatnatyam that is practiced at the Bharatnatyam Dance Schools in Kolkata is considered the mother of most of the other classical dances of India and inspires many art forms like sculpture, painting and icon making. Now Bharatnatyam Dancer in Kolkata is making this form of dance available to common people.
