WHAT ARE THE LEARNING STYLES? • AUDIO – LISTENING TO MUSIC/FILM/RADIO • VISUAL – WATCHING FILMS WITH SUBTITLES, READING ADVERTS, SIGNS, NOTICES, TEXT • KINAESTHETIC – IN LANGUAGE EDUCATION, THIS MIGHT INVOLVE COPYING SOMEONE WHO IS SPEAKING. • REFLECTION – WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER ABOUT WHAT YOU LEARNT? WHAT WAS EFFECTIVE? WHAT WORKED AND WHAT DIDN’T? THEY CHANGE ALL THE TIME, DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU ARE LEARNING AND IN OUR OWN JOURNEY THROUGH LIFELONG LEARNING.

  3. CEFR LEVEL TARGETS - S.M.A.R.T • SPECIFIC – MAKE SURE YOUR TARGETS ARE SPECIFIC • MEASURABLE – HOW CAN YOUR TARGETS BE MEASURED? IF THEY ARE RELATED TO LANGUAGE, THEN YOU CAN MEASURE THEM WITH CEFR AND EXAMS. IF THEY ARE A SOCIAL/PHILOSOPHICAL/PSYCHOLOGICAL THEN YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO MEASURE THEM BY KEEPING A DIARY. • ACHIEVABLE – MAKE SURE YOU CAN REACH YOUR GOALS! • REALISTIC – CAN YOU REALLY GO FROM AN A1 TO A C2 IN 6 MONTHS? • TIME- MEASURED – WHEN IS THIS ALL GOING TO HAPPEN? 1 WEEK, 1 MONTH, 6 MONTHS?

  4. LESSON STARTERS • FUNCTION IS TO GET YOUR STUDENTS TO START THINKING • OR STARTING THINKING ABOUT THE TOPIC IN THE “ALL ABOUT ME” LESSON, IT COULD BE: • DRAWING ACTIVITY • MATCHING GAME • QUIZ RELATED TO THEME

  5. AIM OF THE LESSON - • GET STUDENTS TO THINK ABOUT THEMSELVES (WE DO THAT WITH A STARTER ACTIVITY) • ENABLE STUDENTS TO START TALKING TO YOU ABOUT THEMSELVES. • WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO ASK THEM? • HOW MANY QUESTIONS? • WHAT CAN YOU SAY ABOUT YOURSELF?

  6. WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE FOOD? WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE ANIMAL? WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE SPORT? DO YOU LIKE CYCLING? WHY DID YOU DRAW A FAT MAN? (PAY ATTENTION TO THEIR DRAWING) * THESE WERE SPECIFIC TO THEIR DRAWING

PLENARY – THINGS TO CONSIDER • MAKE SURE YOU PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT YOUR STUDENTS ARE TELLING YOU. • IF THEY HAVE DRAWN SOMETHING, MAKE SURE YOU SEE EVERYTHING IN THE PICTURE – YOU CAN PICK UP ON A LITTLE DETAIL AND START A CONVERSATION. • YOU CAN ASK GENERAL QUESTIONS LIKE “WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE SPORT?” AND THEN MOVE ONTO SPECIFIC QUESTIONS ABOUT THE CHILD.
