Summary • ICMP Source Quench generation by routers already deprecated by RFC 1812 • Security implications discussed in RFC 5927 (ICMP attacks against TCP) • No TCP implementation (that I know of) currently honors ICMP Source Quenches • At the time, there was consensus in tcpm wg to formally deprecate ICMP Source Quench messages. It was suggested that this should be pursued in tsvwg. • This I-D does that: It deprecates reaction to ICMP Source Quench messages (requests that nodes ignore them)
