  3. Major Species

  4. MIPAS Data Availability • Jul 2002 - Mar 2004: MIPAS operated at full resolution 0.025cm-1 sampling • ESA L2 products widely distributed and validated • Jan 2005 - present: operated at 40% reduced resolution 0.0625cm-1 sampling • L1B spectra available, but routine ESA processing will not start until 2008

  11. Oxford L2 Data • Oxford processor MORSE uses same L1B/microwindows as ESA data, but optimal estimation algorithm. • Standard ESA species p,T,H2O,O3,HNO3,CH4,N2O, NO2, plus additional molecules ClONO2, N2O5, CFC-11, CFC-12 and CO • Processed 1 day/month global coverage, preferably NOM mode, for long term trends • Since 1st June 2007 process all MIPAS L1B spectra http://www.atm.ox.ac.uk/group/mipas/L2OXF/

  22. 2007 Antarctic Spring According to the WMO bulletin According MIPAS .. (a)Warmer than usual Similar temperature to past years (at 100mb) (b) Less ozone depletion than usual Similar ozone depletion to past years (c) A lot more NO2 than usual
