To facilitate Research, Knowledge sharing, Learning and Career Enhancement of IT Professionals • Inspiring and nurturing new entrants into the industry and helping them to integrate into the IT Community. • Working closely with other Industry Associations, Government Bodies and Academia • To ensure that the benefits of IT advancement ultimately percolate down to every single citizen of India.

  4. Promotion of Information Technology as a Profession by regularly organizing Conferences, Conventions, Lectures and giving various Awards. • Organizing regular Training and Skill updating for the IT Professionals. • Helping Governments in formulating IT Strategy & Planning.

CSI-eNewsletter (CSI-eNL) Published monthly • Compilation of information from different sources of interest to ICT professionals, academicians and students. • A short quiz is a part of this eNL to facilitate interaction with the readers. • Readers are welcome to share interesting information

  6. 2. CSI Communications • Publishes articles and review papers in computer Science and Information Technology 3. CSI Journal of Computing • Publishes truly original papers in Computer Science, Information Technology & boundary areas between these fields of study. • Contributions from the worldwide vibrant community of academia, industrial researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs

All members of the CSI with their mailing address in a region shall be the members of that region. • Region 1: Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, HP, J&K, UP, Uttaranchal and other areas in Northern India. • Region 2: Assam, Bihar, West Bengal, North Eastern States and other areas in East & North East India. • Region 3: Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and other areas in Western India. • Region 4: Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Orissa and other areas in Central & South Eastern India. • Region5: Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. • Region 6: Maharashtra and Goa. • Region 7: Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Andaman and Nicobar, Kerala, Lakshadweep • Region 8: International Members

  8. Technical activities are divided into 5 divisions as given below: Division I : HardwareDivision II  : SoftwareDivision III : Sc. Applications Division IV : CommunicationsDivision V  : Education and Research • Divisional activities coordinated by the Chairman of each division - elected by the voting members once in two years.

CSINational IT award: To recognize significant contributions to the promotion of IT applications  in threeseparate categories : • Best Software • Best Shrink Wrapped Software • Best IT Usage 2. CSI National Young IT Professional Award: To identify, recognize and encourage outstanding achievements of young IT professionals. 3. CSI e-Governance Award:To give recognition to a Central or State govt. or any of its department which has made a significant impact in the usage of IT. 4. CSI Best Project Award: To recognize the best quality project carried out

  10. CSI Funds Minor Research Projects • Level of Applicants 1. Permanent College Teachersand members of CSI working in an Institution having a CSI student branch. For carrying out research related to Computer Science / I.T. 2. Student Members of CSI studying at graduate / post-graduate level for developing innovative techniques in computer applications/ hardware under approved supervision. • Level of Assistance 1. Projects involving development of hardware : upto Rs.50,000/- 2. Projects in software development : upto Rs.30,000/- 3. Assistance is available for items like equipment (no laptop/ desktop), books and journals, field work and contingency expenditure including printing of questionnaire,

Duration The duration of the project will be ten months from June to march • Notification Computer Society of India, Education Directorate invites proposals for Research funding for every financial year through CSI Communications in Aug / Sep Issue. Last date for receipt of proposals: 31st January of every year

  14. Membership of the Society is open to all professionals involved in the field of information technology 1. Honorary Fellow Conferred upon a person in recognition of his/ her outstanding contributions to the promotion of IT.  2. Fellow Conferred by invitation of the ExecCom upon a person of outstanding qualifications and experience in the fields of interest to CSI and who has made important individual contributions to one or more of these fields. Should be a member of the CSI for a period of five years or more

  15. 2. Paid membership: • Individual Normally, a professional joins the Society as an Associate member and upgrades himself to Senior Member grade over a period of time. Life Membership is open to all professionals, organizations and institutions involved in the fields of information and communications technologies. • Senior Member An Engineer or Post Graduate and member of the Society for 7years or have 10 years recognized standing in the computer field. A graduate from a course of study from an accredited educational Institution and a member of the Society for 10 years or have 15 years recognized standing in the computer field. Non-graduate with experience in the Computer profession and a member of the Society for 15 years

  16. Member An Engineer or Post Graduate can be a member of the Society for 3 years or have 5 years recognized standing in the computer field. A graduate from a course of study from an accredited education institution and be a member of the Society for 5 years or have 8 years recognized standing in the computer field. Non-graduate with experience in the Computer / D P profession and member of the Society for 10 years.

  17. Associate Member An Engineer or Post Graduate with work experience of at least one year in the field of Computer Science or a graduate with two years experience in the field of Computer Science. The grade of Associate is limited to those working in advancing the theory or application of Computer Science, Information Technology or other related disciplines. For admission to this grade the candidate should be Graduate of any discipline. StudentMember Pass in 10+2 academic program and are enrolled for a degree course pass in matriculation/secondary education and enrolled for diploma courses approved by State Directorate of Technical Education

  22. Forming a Student Branch Institutional member is eligible to open `Student Branch’ in their institution, subject to maintenance of a minimum of 75 student members at all times. One of the nominees of the Institution or an existing CSI member among the faculty is to be designated as the Student Branch coordinator (SBC). Will drive all student activities of the student branch and be the main point of contact with CSI. To open a `Student Branch’, institution must submit `bulk student membership application form.

  23. The institution is entitled to retain 1/3 amount of the total membership fee collected from the students @ Rs. 350/- per student This retained amount should be deposited in a separate bank account in the name of “Institution name-student branch-CSI” and spent for students branch activities. Eligibility for nomination of best Student Branch award • Assistance with resource persons for various events and chapter support to organize seminars / workshops / tutorials / competitions • Invitation for all Regional/State/ National student conventions/ conferences and competitions • Concessional rates for CSI Conferences and Tutorials for student members • Eligibility to publish articles in CSI communications and journal for student members •  Eligibility to be nominated for the best Student paper in CSI communications • Eligibility for CSI funded minor projects (for College Students)

  26. The Chapter activities are managed by a Committee of elected members headed by the Chairman.
