Foundation for NIH • Independent nonprofit 501(c)(3) public charity created by Congress in 1990 & incorporated in 1996; able to partner with a broad range of entities • Creates innovative public-private biomedical partnerships that complement NIH priorities and enhance NIH activities • Involves NIH and other federal partners, industry, academia, the philanthropic community

Foundation for NIH • Provides a neutral forum able to engage all partners to work together with an equal ability to contribute • Collaborative, entrepreneurial approach to address large, complex problems • Deep expertise in public-private partnership development and management • Currently supporting 100+ projects; raised over $460M since 1996

Major Public-Private Partnerships • Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) • Comprehensive T Cell Vaccine Immune Monitoring Consortium (CTC-VIMC) • Genetic Association Information Network (GAIN) • Grand Challenges in Global Health • MAL-ED • Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) • The Biomarkers Consortium

OMOP Extended Consortium • Much of the materials presented today are the results of the OMOP research core team’s efforts over the past 12 months • The FNIH is making the OMOP CDM, Methods Library, HOI definitions and other research tools publically available to the research community for the purpose of performing research related to drug outcomes studies • We believe that there is an opportunity to engage a boarder research community to • Evaluate other sources of observational healthcare data • Create standards around a common data model and vocabulary mappings • Develop standardized tools to run against the CDM including programs for the OMOP methods library • Expand the Health Outcomes of Interest Library

OMOP Extended Consortium • We invite academic institutions, healthcare providers, research organizations, data providers, and other interested groups to explore these materials within your research environment and consider participating in the OMOP Extended Consortium • Several organizations are already participating • Anyone interested should contact a member of the OMOP research team
