  2. Cowboys Who Care • First change project • Mentor program that would create a bond with all four schools within our school (1 Generations mentee, 1 Leadership mentee, 1 Legacy mentor, 1 Career mentor) • Meet twice a month • When scheduled to meet, mentors and mentees will eat lunch together, then go out into the community and will have a community service project to get done with their mentor or mentee. • Reasons why it didn’t work: Poor communication from admin. • The project was being planned out for 2 years.

  3. Cowboys UnitedProjectScope • Purpose/Context: The problem that we have in our high school is that, most of our student body does not engage in student activities such as attending sports games, attending class, and overall just being engaged in in-school and out of school activities. This project is important to our school because we are looking for unity and engagement in our students. As representatives of Student Board of Education we are giving our peers the opportunity, such as attending a free basketball game if the students are wearing West gear can be a small step towards improving student engagement within our school.

  4. Lean Tools • The Lean Tools that our group is using during “Cowboys United” is creating awareness. We are creating awareness in our school by using Twitter, and Facebook in order to make students aware about what’s going on in and out of school.

  5. Cowboys UnitedProject charter • Why is this project important? Cowboys United is very important to our school because as a phase out school we are lacking student engagement. When lacking student engagement it also hits many other areas such as, low attendance, decreased school pride. Having a project like Cowboys United can easily increase school spirit, increase attendance, and also increase student engagement in and out of school.

  6. Project Goals: Goals: To improve student engagement in and out of school, and also increase student awareness about what is happening in school and out of school Via Twitter, and Facebook. We determined our goals for this project by looking at what our school needed improvement in. It turns out that our school needed a lot of improvement in school engagement so this is the area that we decided to focus on for our change project.

  7. Project Challenges • Cowboys Who Care Challenges: Lack of communication with all principals in our school about our project and what it meant to have a program like “Cowboys Who Care” implemented in our school campus. • Cowboys United Challenges: Bringing in a new project so late in the year, and having to implement it in our school as best as we can with the little time we have.
