Sept. 14: Fall Semester’s involvement fair, 3:15-5:15 Sept. 15: Meeting for brand new E-Board Sept. 21: Meeting for Service Chairs Sept. 24-25: Student Leadership conference Oct. 1: Organization Roster (Names & IDs) & Updated Executive Board Report due to the LSE Office by 4:30 p.m. Update Eboard with: http://www.snc.edu/lse/forms/officer.html Nov. 2: Green Knight Annual Report Workshop Feb. 1: Spring Org Access Meeting Feb. 8: Spring Semester Involvement Fair

  7. 2010 – 2011 GREEN KNIGHT REPORT • Do you prefer having the Report be bi-annual or spring only • Vote - Survey • Deadline(s) will be announced depending on results of survey • Optional Green Knight Report Workshop

SAF NEWS • If you have not requested your organizations funding for this year, please read through the guidelines at www.snc.edu/safac. • Once you have read the guidelines, please email John Seckel to have the funds transferred. • Mandatory SAF workshop for all Treasurers. • Tuesday, September 14, at 5:30 in Cofrin 15

  9. KNIGHT LIFE PROGRAM • Late night program sponsored by E2K and the Jason Senjem’s Business Management Class. • E2K Program dates: • Sept. 10 – Southwest Night • Sept. 24 – Mess with your Mind • Oct. 1 – Laugh yourself Silly • Nov. 5 – Relax then get crazy • Dec. 3 – A Campus Center Holiday

KNIGHT LIFE PROGRAM • How can your organization become involved? • Talk to John • We are looking for organizations to help out on specific nights, with set up/take down, arts/crafts, or help with the recreational activities. • Dr. Senjem’s Class will also be looking for assistance. • www.snc.edu/cc

INVOLVEMENT FAIR • Tuesday, September 14, 3:30pm – 5:15pm • On the Campus Center Lawn • Rain site: Campus Center Gym • Register for a table at http://www.snc.edu/lse/programs/tasteofsnc.html • Go to www.snc.edu/lse, click the “Students” tab on the left, and the “Taste of SNC” link in the middle of the page. Email angela.klingensmith@snc.edu with questions.

EMERGING LEADERS • First year student leader group: • Attend 4 large group workshops • Work in small groups with a “coach” to work on a service project or program. • We want more project coaches, and your orgs can help! • Virtually any program or service project can be implemented! STUDENT LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE • September 24-25 • Friday: 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. • Saturday: 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. • Leaving a Legacy with your Leadership • Opportunities to network with students, administration and community members • Breakout sessions presented by students and staff • Keynote Speaker: Kathy Obear • Registration is $10 to be paid either personally or by your student organization • http://www.snc.edu/lse/programs/icamp/

STUDENT ORG WORK GROUP • Coming to you second semester (Spring 2011). • Student members of various orgs come together to discuss what we as student leaders, along with our available resources, can do for SNC organizations. • Something for already-established leaders (like you or students you know) to provide support and recognition, a forum for conversation with other leaders, a way to share programming, resume building, etc.

  17. 2009/2010 Org. Service Stats • For the 2009-2010 school year only 34 of 68orgs reported their service • Drop of 10% reporting fall-spring? • 155 different projects were conducted • 718* hours • $116,310 raised: But why should Orgs do service?

  18. Service Requirement ProgramRecreation, Special Interest, Media/ Programming, Cultural/Ethnic, faith/service, Governing • Complete at least 1 service project each semester fitting your mission. Examples: • Zen Club- offering free yoga classes to the SNC community to improve health and wellness • SGA organizes transportation to the voting sites to encourage students to vote • RHA organizes Make a Difference Day • 1 service rep. must attend the org. service workshop

Guidelines for Greek and Independent social Orgs • Must complete 2 service projects each semester each project must have 80% participation in order to count • If 80% cannot make a single event offer multiple times/days for a project (ex: having multiple shifts at a food pantry) • At least one project must benefit an off campus agency • Ex: Untouchables w/ PALS program sponsoring events, Greek groups partnering with their national philanthropy • 1 service rep. must attend the org service workshop • Complete 2 educational programs per semester

Benefits of Service • Self • Resume builder & community contacts • Practical experience • Self Awareness • Org • Retention: more likely to have stronger retention if you have events outside the weekly meeting • Group bonding experience • Community • It’s your community should you choose to build it

Alcohol and Drugs - must follow college policy at all events no matter the location Hazing - Zero tolerance policy Off-Campus Events - Best practice is to provide transportation, follow college policies Risk Waivers - Contact Kristee Becker for waivers two weeks in advance of your event.
