Case Study – Buckswood School Buckswood is a group of independent international schools with campuses in England, Nigeria and Georgia that cater for UK and International pupils aged 11-18 on a day and boarding basis. The brief: In November last year Buckswood School in Guestling, East Sussex were looking to appoint a Head teacher. The solution: Buckswood advertised the vacancy with the Guardian as an enhanced listing, meaning it appeared on Guardian Schools Jobs and Guardian Jobs and had a banner ad which appeared on all relevant pages and search listings. “We placed an advertisement for a new Head teacher with the Guardian Schools’ Recruitment Service, and found the perfect candidate who now heads our school.” The results: The advert attracted 626 views which resulted in 20 applications who were filtered down and shotlisted.   15. Case Study – Greensward Academy Greensward Academy is a popular secondary comprehensive academy in Essex and lead academy of the Academies Enterprise Trust. It is a Science, Applied Learning and Leading Edge Academy with Training School Status looking after 1,530 students. The brief: In Autumn 2011 Greensward Academy were looking to appoint a MFL Spanish Teacher. The solution: The Academies Enterprise Trust advertised the vacancy with the Guardian as an enhanced listing, meaning it appeared on Guardian Schools Jobs and Guardian Jobs and had a banner ad which appeared on all relevant pages and search listings. The results: The advert attracted 174 views which resulted in 63 applications who were filtered down and shotlisted. The job was offered to one of these candidates delivered by the Guardian. “We are very pleased to have appointed a Spanish Teacher for the Greensward Academy after using Guardian Schools Jobs.   16. Case Study – Blackheath High School Blackheath High School is an independent day school for girls ages 3-18 in London. Rated ISI ‘outstanding’, the school is one of the original members of the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST). The brief: After an initially unsuccessful recruitment campaign to find a Head of Junior School in June, Blackheath High School re-advertised the vacancy on Guardian Schools Jobs in November. The solution: To maximise exposure the vacancy was advertised on Guardian Schools Jobs as well as Guardian Jobs as an enhanced listing. This ensured the post appeared at the top of the search listings and was accompanied by a banner ad which ran across the two sites on relevant pages. The vacancy was also sent out to suitable candidates via the Job Match service and appeared in print in the Guardian Education ‘School Leaders’ section. The results: After running the ad with Guardian and with another competitor website, the Guardian delivered 12 quality candidates while the other site delivered none. “After advertising a vacancy with the Guardian and elsewhere we were very pleased with the number of applications the Guardian generated.   17. Case Study – Hammersmith Academy Opened in September 2011, Hammersmith Academy is a brand new, co-educational secondary school, specialising in Creative & Digital Media and ICT. The brief: In August 2011 Hammersmith Academy were looking to appoint a number of teaching and support roles in readiness for the school’s opening in September. One of these support roles was for a Creative Media Technician. The solution: The vacancy was advertised on Guardian Schools Jobs as well as Guardian Jobs, giving it maximum exposure to both audiences. It was run as an enhanced listing, meaning the listing appeared at the top of the search listings and was given a banner ad to run across the sites on relevant pages. “ We are very pleased to have successfully recruited a Creative Media Technician using Guardian Jobs. We have also advertised other support roles and have received great levels of response from promising candidates. We will certainly use the Guardian again for future roles.“ The results: After running the ad for 1 week with the Guardian it was viewed 236 times and the school received 18 applications.
