In a 250-300 word post: • • Describe your understanding of the field of Applied Behavioral Science including an overview of the generalist perspective of practice. • • Discuss the types of career directions that an individual may follow and which are of most interest to you personally and why, including any applicable personal example. • Values and Ethics Guiding Generalist Practice. Review the readings in Chapter 2, and the power point slides. In 250- 300 words, supporting your comments with scholarly references, please summarize the professional values and ethics that guide the Generalist Practice. Select one area of practice that stands out as an area of particular strength for you and one which you want to strengthen in yourself, describing how you might become more informed, aware or aligned with this principle. Respond to a minimum of two of your classmates.

Watch Why to Believe in Others and in 250 – 300 words, supporting your comments with scholarly references, • • Discuss Empowerment and Empowerment Theory, The Strengths Perspective, and Resiliency and why this focus is a vital concept in the Generalist Practice.

Of all the theories discussed in Chapter 3 (field, social exchange, learning psychoanalytic, systems, empowerment, and feminist), which one helps you understand best how groups function? In 250 – 300 words, discuss your rationale for selecting this theory and the concepts of the theory that make it seem most relevant to your understanding. • Types of Groups. Select one of the types of groups: Task group, Team, Treatment, Support, Committees, etc., giving an example of how it functions, its purpose, goals, and relevance to the individuals that participate in the group. What kinds of variables might act as barriers to the successful outcomes of this group?

The Final Paper is due at the end of the course (Week Five). In order to ensure that you have time to write a good paper and receive sufficient guidance from your instructor, an outline is to be submitted this week.

What are the primary principles involved in community building? Describe what is meant by enhancing a community’s strengths and what kinds of efforts would be involved in working toward positive change

Select one of the three video segments on social advocacy and fighting for social injustice: • • Bill Clinton on Rwanda • • Majora Carter’s Tale of Urban Renewal
