  3. The Church of St. Andrew The church was founded by Kazimir Yagilontshyk in the 15th century, and the present brick church was built in the 18th century in the late baroque style.

  4. Bernadine's church The church and monastery were built in 1630. It is an early baroque building. Its façade is decorated by a mighty high three-storey tower.

  5. Zhirovitchy Monastery Zhirovichsky monastery means as much for Belarus as Troice-Sergeivsky Lavra for Russia and Kievsko-Pechorsky monastery for the Ukraine.

  6. The history of Zhirovichy dates back to 1470. Nowadays Zhirovichy has become the biggest Greek Catholic centre in the Republic Poland and one of the biggest Orthodox churches in Belarus

  7. Some facts from the history of Zhirovichy`s monastery Themonastery was founded in 1493. In 1520 there was a fire, which destroyed the whole monastery. Some years later the Cathedral of Blessed Virgin was built on this place.

  8. Some facts from the history In the16th century Zhirovichy Svyato-Uspenskymen's monastery was founded in the village of Zhirovichy. It appeared due to the icon of Mother of God. On the place where the icon appeared A. Soltan built a church. In 1618 the monastery became a part of the village Zhirovichy.

  16. It’s a wooden church which was built at the end of the XVIII century. St George’s Church

  17. The Icon of the Blessed Virgin of Zhirovichy In the year 1470Alexander Soltan’s shepherds, noticed a wonderful icon of the Blessed Virgin on a pear-tree. Nowadays the icon is kept in the cathedral of the Holy Blessed Virgin's Assumption, in the monastery of Zhirovichy.

  18. The Icon of the Blessed Virgin The 20th of May (New Style) is the day of glorifying the icon of the Blessed Virgin of Zhirovichy. Moreover it is the biggest pilgrimage centre in Belarus.

When you come to Zhirovichy you'll visit the acting Zhirovichy orthodox monastery, make a tour around the architect complex of the Zhirovichy monastery 16th-18th centuries and Theological Seminary, visit the Cathedral with the Magic Image of Mother of God (15th cent.), visit the Sacred Spring to get some puremedicinal water.

  20. Zhirovichy is the place you must not miss if you get the chance to go to Slonim!!!
