POVERTY Wealth Gap ($120k Whites, $5.5k Hispanic, $4.5k African American) (Resource: Pew) 47 Million in Poverty / 30 Million Working Poor (Resource: US Census) 37 Million African American (12%) Unemployment: Adults 14.3% & Youth 22.4% (Resource Dept. Labor) South LA 47.9% population under 25 yrs. in age, 30% 0-15 yrs. old. (Resource: DMH vulnerable communities population report) Service Planning Area 6 ranks highest in the County of Los Angeles in the following categories according to the UCLA School of Public Affairs • Percentage of population living in poverty (29%) • Percent of children and youth living in poverty (40%) • Percentage of adult population with no high school diploma (46%) • Percentage of children and youth who are uninsured (11.3%) • Percent of adults reporting their health to be fair or poor (33.4%) and • Homicide death rate of children and youth (per 100,000)

  6. Health and Human Service-Training ProgramPrevention Transition Age Youth (18-25) Employment Program: 22-weeks of service-training toward Peer Mentor qualification. Service Population: Boys & Men of Color Out of Home Placement Juvenile Justice Involvement Program Design: -Develop/Increase Cultural & Linguistic Competent Health & Human Service Professionals. -Advance social emotional learning in schools to eliminate mental health stigma. Establishes a College to Career Culture

Service Population: 8th Grade Students (Special Education) 9th-12th Grade Students: Campus Intervention Specialists Program Design: Research, development, training, trail & implementation of evidence backed early intervention curriculum. Intergenerational Peer Mentoring

Behavioral Health Component will coincide with current K-12 Management & Instruction Framework. Behavioral Health B. Restructure Pupil Services: Establish systems of prevention, early intervention and care embedding community-defined services and comprehensive healthcare via student and family workgroup arena. Six Content Arenas for Behavioral Health Supports Student and Family Assistance Classroom Based Approaches to Support Social Emotional Learning Crisis/Emergency Assistance and Prevention Support for Transitions Home Involvement in Schooling School-Community Outreach • C. Systemic Transformational Change: Three Paths • Transform system(s) internal social structure. • Transform system(s) core support and work processes. • Engage external social structure.
