  1. Microsoft’s influence on society BY: Colton Strohschein

  2. Start of Microsoft and how its doing • Microsoft was formed in 1975 By high school friends Bill Gates and Paul Allen in Redmond, Washington • They made the first practical computer in their mind for the consumer market • In 1981 The introduction of the I.B.M. personal computer caused their company to be wanted by many other companies. • With the making of Microsoft office, they were used in almost every business that needed to trade info. • They are still making more and more money, they made about 10% more than last year but are starting to fall behind due to Apple.

  3. Good Influences from Microsoft • Made it possible so that any family could easily get a computer. • Allowed companies to trade info with each other much easier. • Made it so tough jobs could be done in minutes with one of their programs then could be used by other people. • Let people do all their shopping from their house and have it delivered. • Revolutionized the computer and technology industry. • Provides entertainment to many households.

  4. Problems that Microsoft has caused • Over the years it has been affecting us in numerous negative ways. • Has been making us lazier-we don’t have to do much, the computer does it all • Makes us impatient when we aren’t on a computer-when we aren’t online we are used to everything being instant, not having to wait for stuff. • Obesity-people no longer go outside as much because they can play on a computer or Xbox • Monopolization of its industry-not many companies are able to make it since they wouldn’t be able to trade info with Microsoft's computers that are already in almost every business and home.

  5. Conclusion • Mostly I think that Microsoft has helped out more than it has hindered us. It has allowed many companies to expand faster so we can get what we want easier. It also has made it so most families can have a computer. It also is a huge donator. In all it has spent almost 1 $billion, The software they donated is valued at $3.9 billion. • They may be blamed for the bad effects, but those are also our fault. We decide how much time we spend on their machines, but it’s not like the bad things are caused the second you use one. The goods outweigh the bad in my mind. • http://topics.nytimes.com/top/news/business/companies/microsoft_corporation/index.html?scp=1-spot&sq=microsoft%20corporation&st=cse • http://www.helium.com/items/1519458-negative-effects-of-technology-on-kids-children?page=1 • http://www.neowin.net/news/microsofts-donated-39-billion-dollars-to-non-profits-to-date
