Lotus Learning Centre9a Bay Road, Waverton Village July School Holiday Program Week 1: 4 Full days: Mon- Thurs Year 2 – Year 6 (Extension) Week 2: Monday – Friday Half days: Year 2 – Year 6 Mornings: 9:30a.m. - 11:30 a.m.: The Wordplay Workshop It’s Write… (It’s not Wrong) …. It’s the weird and whacky writing workshop for whippersnappers wanting to write right! Weaving words around the weird, whacky,whimsical or winsome. Suitable for writers of any standard, this workshop aims to extend children who love to write and motivate those who do not to love to write. July 1 – 4, 2013: 9:30 – 4:00 p.m. July 8–12, 2013: 9:30 – 11:30 /1:00 –3:00 Monday & Tuesday  Building Bridges in the Brain Includes visits to nearby bridges, including Sydney Harbour Bridge pylons and the Anzac Bridge. Students will be provided with a range of learning options including science-based investigating, problem solving, designing & making as well as creative arts options. Afternoons: 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m OC Test Preparation For students in Year 4 sitting the OC test in July, this intensive course is designed to prepare children for the novel questions they will face in the OC test as well as providing time management, exam preparation and self-regulation strategies to make the process a positive learning and life experience. Wednesday & Thursday: Architectural Adventures in Thinking Includes architectural tour of Sydney buildings and a visit to the White Rabbit Gallery in Chippendale to see the Smash Palace exhibition. Student’s thinking will be challenged to investigate the structural and design principles of buildings as well as the social, ethical, aesthetic and environmental factors of urban development. N.B. Above programs are designed for children who enjoy intellectual challenges and learning complex concepts. They aim to expand children's thinking beyond the "concrete" understanding of bridges and architecture to the metaphorical, and explore the real, fantasy and future worlds.
