  4. Which to focus on first… • All of the traits are important, so we should focus on one at a time. • What’s that? You want to work on word choice first? Beautiful! Brilliant! Let’s begin!

  5. Word Choice • This trait looks at how well you choose the words in your paper.

  6. Word Choice • What does effective word choice look like? • Use specific words • Use appropriate connotation

  7. Word Choice • Specific words will be clear and precise. • General words will be unclear and vague. • In your narrative, you want to have specific words that help create a picture for your reader.
