CAP Safety • Focusing on safety is a Primary Goal of all activities, exercises or missions. • All Seniors & Cadets are safety officers. • Unit Commanders, Safety Officers: Know who is qualified and who can take part -advise those who are not. Keep your safety currency currentis a must. • Expanded selections of on-line safety briefings • No current safety education? Don’t Expect To Participate! Suspension from all activities. • Intro To On-Line Safety For New Members – 31 Mar 11 • Move towards on-line education and record keeping.

Timely SafetyThoughts • Prepare an ORM Worksheet during the planning process for ALL CAP activities. • Safety Day – October 2011; Jan-March 2012. • Everyonemusttake-Introduction To On-Line Safety for New Members. • Quarterly Safety Education Reports, post on-line. • REMEMBER, All Seniors & Cadets are safety officers. • Are you qualified to take part? Health(CAPF-60) & Education requirements. • Annual Safety Survey-Don’t just say “yes”. • Unit Commanders & Safety Officers: If you do not post your training in eServices, attendees will not get credit.

Operational Risk Management-ORM • During the activity pre-planning phase-make it part of the process. • Safety Briefing – Inform participants of hazards. • Analyze & list all potential hazards and risks. • Assess hazards and risk and rank them as to frequency and potential severity. • Implement controls and risk reduction. • Mitigate potential hazards by understanding risks. • Post event-activity debriefing

  14. New Policy - Cadet Safety Training • 1. Complete an “Introduction to Core Values”. • 2. Complete the “Introduction to Safety” and pass a formal test with a grade of 80%. This quiz can be taken on-line in eServices from the Safety Education Module of a senior can print quizzes from eServices and use pencil and paper. The hard copy quizzes in eServices can be accessed from the Cadet on-line testing Admin module.
