Mole Ratio • Coefficients of a balanced chemical equation show us the ratio of molecules or moles in a chemical reaction • 2H2 + O2→ 2H2O • 2 molecules of hydrogen react with 1 molecule of oxygen to produce 2 molecules of water • 2 moles of hydrogen react with 1 mole of oxygen to produce 2 moles of water

  6. Example 4 • Chalcopyrite (CuFeS2) is the mineral source used in the production of pure copper. The equation is as follows: 2CuFeS2+ 5O2→ 2Cu +2FeO + 4SO2 How much pure copper can be produced from 1.00 kg of rock containing 45.0% chalcopyrite by mass?
