SUSTAINABLE ENERGY IN KOŠICE REGION Recent situation in town Moldava nad Bodvou List of present boiler houses: • Boiler House K3 power capacity 5,1 MW , fuel Natural Gas - Kogeneration unit 0,15 MWe 0,23 MWt • Boiler House K4 power capacity 8,5 MW , fuel Natural Gas • Boiler House K7 power capacity 4,0 MW , fuel Natural Gas Supplied heat year 2007: • Production of heat 76.000,GJ • Central heating 48.300, GJ • Hot using water preparation 21.700, GJ • Production of electricity power 1.067, MWh

  4. SUSTAINABLE ENERGY IN KOŠICE REGION Biomass plant in town Moldava nad Bodvou with technology of burning an wood chips Key-stone of the project: • Fuel switch from nature gas to biomass • Fossil biomass fuel ( consumption 9.500, ton/yr) • Power capacity 2x2.5 MW • Estimated production of heat energy 65 000 GJ Asset: • Price stabilization • Utilization of the regional fossil biomass fuel • Reduction of CO2 ( green house gasses)

  5. Wood chips are burnt in special incinerators with 87% efficiency of burning at the maximum power output of the boiler. The non-homogeneous composition of wood chips and the fluctuations in humidity require a stabilized operation system of the incinerator with the consumption of 300-400 kg of wood chips per hour of operation system for each MW of heat power. Sustainable Energy in EASTERN Region

  6. SUSTAINABLE ENERGY IN KOŠICE REGION Biogas plant in town Moldava nad Bodvou will obtain approx. 60% of city energy demand by using the renewable energy from ecological power plant Key-stone of the project: • Methane content of 60% in the Biogas • Application of a combine heat and power unit with 526 kW electrical power will get an electrical output over 4.100.000 kWh/a • Full-day operational running time • Plant inputs - sewage sludge, fluid manure 20.000 Mt/yr - food waste, vegetable fat 5.000 Mt/yr - water 21.500 Mt/yr • Plant output - heat supply to industrial zone of town - electrical power supply to national or regional grid - ecological fertilizer approx. 45.000 ton/yr
