  4. #Mathematics • # S5 Mathematics will have 3 curricula: • (1) Compulsory part only • (2) Compulsory part + Module 1 • (3) Compulsory part + Module 2 • Students in D and E classes will take curriculum (1) only while students in A, B and C classes can take either curriculum (1), curriculum (2) or curriculum (3).

  5. Criteria for promotion • Annual grand average passed + passed in at least one language subject+ number of failed subject less than six • Promoted to S4 • Failed in annual grand average or Failed in both Chinese Language and English Language or Six or more subjects failed • Repeat S3

Reasons for Refined S4 allocation • Grand average of Annual Score which could signify students’ overall academic performance (including cultural subjects for a balanced and all-round requirement). This amounted to 70% of the total points. • Students’ performance showing significant special capabilities, talents and interests accounted for the remaining 30% as represented by average marks of the relevant subjects of three electives (and Maths modules for classes A, B and C). • Reduce mismatching on students’ interests and abilities.
