  2. You are here because… • You understand the requirements of the next rank • You have completed your PDR with supporting evidence • Your line manager supports your application for promotion and your NCVF assessment has been completed

  3. Leadership Expectations • You have considered what you would do tomorrow if promoted. • You have considered how you would continue and improve yourself and your new team?

  4. Force Requirements for 2019/2020 Subject to organisational change, there will be opportunities for promotion across all ranks as follows: *Subject to PNAC outcomes

  5. What next? • Supervision completes NCVF assessment • Officer submits completed NCVF to nominated SMT lead • SMT lead moderates NCVF assessment and makes a recommendation to support / not support application • If supported, officer uploads NCVF and SMT summary to online platform •  If not supported, feedback is given via supervision • Moderation outcome can be appealed through Head of Department / Area Commander • Applications are dip-sampled by a Central Moderation Panel for quality assurance • Officer is invited to select an interview date and time from online platform

  6. SMT Leads Where moderation falls to an officer of the same rank as the applicant, their application will be moderated by Chief Superintendent Ged Noble.

  7. Timeline- Key Dates

What happens on the day of interview? • Presentation: • The topic will be based around Northumbria’s vision, purpose and values • *Candidates to the Superintendent board will receive the presentation topic in advance. Details of this will be provided as application window closes. • 30 minute preparation time • 10 minute delivery time • Interview: • 45 minutes • Questions: • Situational – where candidate will describe how they would handle a certain situation or what they would do under certain circumstances • Competency Based questions – which will assess specific skills and behaviours Weightings 50% NCVF 50% interview & presentation

  9. What happens after interview? All candidates notified of results via email. If successful: • You will offered an opportunity to receive feedback • Vacancies anticipated for the next 12 months • Sgts and Insps take personal responsibility for their own Work Based Assessment (WBA) • All officers invited to a briefing by the Chief Constable to share expectations of new rank If unsuccessful: • Interview feedback will be given by panel chair/ or member to candidate with supervision present • Development plan supported locally – personal responsibility
