  2. Bees carry pollen from one plant to another and without them our plants could not grow well.

  3. Bees give us honey and in some parts of the world this is a very important food for humans.

  4. In Britain about 70 crops need visits from bees. Also bees pollinate the flowers of many plants which become part of the feed of farm animals. The value of honey bees and bumble bees in the UK has been estimated at over £200 million per year.

  5. Foxgloves are very poisonous plants. The roots, the leaves, the flowers and the stems are all poisonous and eating them will make you very ill and can kill you.

  6. A chemical which is found in the leaves of foxgloves is used as a medicine. It is used to treat people with serious heart problems and has saved many lives.

  7. The chemical isolated from the foxglove (digoxin) is also used as a treatment to slow muscular dystrophy and to reduce pressure in the eye of glaucoma victims.

  11. The overfishing of one species does not just damage the population of that fish alone. • It can have serious effects further up the food chain. Herring is a vital prey species for the cod. Therefore, when herring are overfished the cod population suffers as well.

  13. Potatoes can be grown all over the world because they are hardy plants. They need good soil and water and the fields need to be looked after carefully.

  14. People of over the world like to eat potatoes and they can be made into lots of different kinds of nutritious meals

  15. Rabbits can make good pets. They also often eat flowers and vegetablesfrom gardens and farms.

  17. Rabbits are not native to Britain. Like many introduced animals they can cause damage to plants and they also breed very quickly.
