  2. 1. Respiration- oxygen + food carbon dioxide + ENERGY • This occurs in cells! • It is NOT the same thing as breathing, it is a way to make ENERGY

  3. 2. Reproduction- to make more (copies)of a species • 2 Different Types • Sexual- involves 2 parents • Asexual- involves 1 parent

  4. 3. Response to Stimuli- a reaction to an action • Stimulus- something that causes a reaction or a response • Ex:You shiver when you are cold • Aka.. SENSITIVITY

  5. 4. Growth- to develop emotionally & physically over time • Cells multiply • Cells get larger (1x celled organisms)

  6. 5. Movement- internal or external motion • Ex: running, heart beating, blood flowing, flowers bending toward sun, trees move water from ground to leaves

  7. 6. Excretion- to get rid of waste • Ex: animals go to the “bathroom”, trees release oxygen from leaves

  8. 7. Nutrition- to get basic needs met (food, water, nutrients)

  9. Other Important Info about Living Things

  10. Organism- any living thing

  11. Homeostasis- regulation of an organism’s internal conditions, despite change in the environment • Ex: keeping right amount of food, sugar & water in cells • Ex: keeping body temp around 98.6 degrees F
