  1. Champion Driver Andy Hillenburg brings racing back to The Rock, and it’s better than ever! When Andy Hillenburg purchased the racetrack formerly known as the North Carolina Speedway in October 2007, he promised to return racing to the one-mile facility within a year. Hillenburg, whose racing resume includes Sprint car, stock car and Indy Car experience, as well as the 1995 ARCA Bondo Mar-Hyde Series Championship, exceeded the expectations of that promise when the green flag fell on the ARCA RE/MAX Series Carolina 500 on May 4, 2008. Racing had returned to "The Rock" after a four-year hiatus with a commitment from Hillenburg to provide race fans with an exciting motorsports experience in a top-notch, family-friendly facility. Since that first race, Hillenburg and the staff at the Rockingham Speedway have built on the esteemed track's racing resume, not only carving out a niche in the ARCA schedule as that series championship crowning event, but also hosting racing action for the Frank Kimmel Street Stock Series, the ASA Late Model Series and the USARacing Series. If you are veteran race fan or someone looking to take their first motorsports adventure, the Rockingham Speedway has something for you. We look forward to seeing you at "The Rock" in 2010.

  2. “The Rock” Track Facts • Formerly known as North Carolina Motor Speedway • Opened in 1965 • Hosted over 50 NASCAR Cup Series Events • The facility has been involved in numerous films and commercials; most recently for 3: The Dale Earnhardt Story, Talladega Nights: The Legend of Ricky Bobby, and the NASCAR IMAX movie, among others • Reopened in November 2007 by ARCA REMAX Series car owner and former driver Andy Hillenburg • Inaugural race, The Carolina 500, took place during the weekend of May 3-4, 2008 featuring the ARCA REMAX Series cars. Joey Logano, who now races in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, took the win for the inaugural race • A half mile oval, known as “Little Rock” was opened in October 2008 and is used for NASCAR testing, Andy Hillenburg’s Fast Track Driving School, and Bandolero and Legends Car Racing • Since the re-opening of the track several different types of series have raced at The Rock including the ARCA Series, USAR Pro-Cup, UARA Late Models, ASA Late Models, Frank Kimmel Street Stock Nationals, Allison Legacy, and the INEX Series Events and Winners since Reopening Carolina 500 May 4, 2008 Joey Logano American 200 November 1, 2008 Clay Rogers Polar Bear 150 January 1, 2009 Chuck Barnes Carolina 200 April 19, 2009 Sean Caisse Cherry Bomb 200 July 4, 2009 Brett Hudson American 200 October 10, 2009 Parker Kligerman Polar Bear 150 January 1, 2010 Chuck Barnes

  3. A ½ mile 11degree banked oval with 800 foot straightaway , completed October 2008. Little Rock includes a ¼ mile 8 degree banked oval, within its borders. The tracks are used continuously for testing not only for speed, but also components of the race cars. Additionally numerous tests include all NASCAR series, ARCA, Allison Legacy, Legends, Bandoleros , UARA Late Models and others. • Rockingham Speedway is continuing to establish itself as a major hotbed in motor sports.
