  5. Answer : Jesus Christ had to Fulfill /Complete a GREAT PLAN !!

  6. A PLAN of God that was formulated before the creation of the world 1 Peter 1:18-21 “18For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, 19but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 20He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. 21Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.]

  7. Thus it was a PLAN to make for God • His people, a people who would respond to Him and love Him, • A people who would be cleansed from their sins, • A people who would choose holiness and reject sin.

  8. Thus it was a PLAN to make for God • His people, a people who would respond to Him and love Him, • A people who would be cleansed from their sins, • A people who would choose holiness and reject sin. • Why was this PLAN (putting Christ on the cross) necessary ?

  9. Why was this PLAN (putting Christ on the cross) necessary ? What must God the Father do in order for men, women and children, to respond in love to Him ? What must God do to cleanse people from their sin ?

  10. Why was this PLAN (putting Christ on the cross) necessary ? A Great PLAN which required Jesus to shed His blood, to totally give His life, so that some people would respond in love, and these people can be cleansed from their sins.

  11. What then was the PLAN ? • The PLAN was • Revealed in Scriptures • Repeatedly illustratedthrough the Sacrificesgiven to God’s people, Israel • Yet not Receivedby just Anyone, but understood by only those whose eyes have been opened by the Spirit of God.

  12. What then was the PLAN ? God’s great PLAN calls for the Almighty Creator to be made small and powerless. Why ? So that it will Solve the problem of Sin; it will Sanctify (make holy) those who repent of their sin and embrace God.

  13. What then was the PLAN ? “ATONEMENT” [At-one (with) men] Jesus took our sins and took the punishment for those sins on His person.

  14. What then was the PLAN ? Jesus literally TOOK our sins, as if He had committed them – that’s why He was justly punished for those sins. “For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh,God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh,” – Romans 8:3

  15. The PLAN was • Revealed in Scriptures • Repeatedly illustrated through the Sacrificesgiven to God’s people, Israel • Yet not Received by just Anyone, but understood by only those whose eyes have been opened by the Spirit of God. • Through His life and on the Cross, Jesus fulfills ALL the Scriptural propheciesabout who He is and what He would do. “28 Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” 29 A jar of wine vinegar was there …” – John 19:28-29a

  33. Because, while it is finished, IT IS NOT OVER.

  34. Sin has greatly affected the world – human race, as well as the earth. “21thatthe creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. 22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirthright up to the present time.” – Romans 8:21-22

  35. “Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 8Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.” – Mark 13:7b-8 “21thatthe creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. 22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirthright up to the present time.” – Romans 8:21-22

  36. “until the full number of the Gentiles has come in” – Romans 11:25b Until Christ’ second coming, let us (the church) turn suffering into good.

  37. It is finished, but it is NOT over.
