PELVIS BONES • PELVIS (meaning basin) • Consists of 4 main bones: 2 HIP BONES, SACRUM, COCCYX. • Hip bones consist of 3 parts fused together: ILIUM, ISCHIUM, PUBIS • boney landmarks: ISCHIAL TUBEROSITIES- sit bones, COCCYX- tailbone, PSIS (POSTERIOR SUPERIOR ILIAC SPINE), ASIS (ANTERIOR SUPERIOR ILIAC SPINE)- headlights, SI JOINT (SACROILIAC JOINT), ILIAC CREST- top of the hip Raquel R Currah, PT • Austin Re-Fit, LLC • Sundara Yoga Therapy IYT 200hr Teacher Training Fall 2010

SACROILIAC MOTION NUTATION (shown in picture): sacral base tilts anteriorly, and sacral apex tilts posterosuperiorly (back and up), the ischialtuberosities move laterally (sit bones move out) and iliac wings adduct (move in). COUNTERNUTATION: sacral base tilts posteriorly, sacral apex tilts anterioinferiorly, iliac wings move away from midline and ischialtuberosities move toward each other.
