7. EARLY YEARS OF THE AMERICAN COLONY • IN THE MID 1700’S THE BRITISH BEGAN TO TIGHTEN ITS GRIP ON THE COLONIES AND DEMAND MORE MONEY.

8. CAUSE #1 - French and Indian War • ENGLAND DEFEATED FRANCE AT A HIGH COST • GREAT BRITAIN GAINED COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE EASTERN 1/3 OF THE COUNTRY

9. EFFECT #1 – COLONISTS TAXED HEAVILY • COLONISTS WERE TAXED HEAVILY IN ORDER TO PAY FOR THE WAR. • ENGLAND BELIEVED COLONISTS OWED THIS MONEY IN RETURN FOR PROTECTION

10. CAUSE #2 – STAMP ACT (1765) • BRITISH TAX ON LEGAL DOCUMENTS, PAMPHLETS, NEWSPAPERS AND EVEN DICE AND PLAYING CARDS.

11. EFFECT #2 – COLONISTS REVOLT ENSUED LEADING TO THE END OF THE STAMP ACT • - THE STAMP ACT WAS REPEALED BUT OTHER TAXES REMAINED.

12. CAUSE #3 – TAXES CONTINUED TO PLAGUE COLONISTS • DESPITE THE END OF THE STAMP ACT OTHER TAXES REMAINED.

13. EFFECT #3 – BOSTON TEA PARTY • COLONISTS REVOLTED WITH THE BOSTON TEA PARTY!!!!

14. CAUSE #4 – COERCIVE ACTS • ACTS THAT LIMITED THE POWER OF THE COLONISTS. WITHDREW MANY OF THE RIGHTS OF AMERICANS.
