  12. How Are We Working to Meet These New Requirements • K-12 School Counselors, Special Education Supervisor, and the Director of Curriculum, Data, and Federal Programs are continuing to update our K-12 guidance plan • Surveys were completed last school year to see what standards are already being covered in each building • Results indicated that between the teachers, school counselors, and transition coordinator that MOST of the areas are being addressed • For those areas that we are not addressing with students the principals, counselors, and teachers will work to fill the gaps • Develop an advisory council to collaborate with professionals, parents, students, and educators to improve career and work readiness skills • **Most important we have to follow the guidelines of the evidence-based indicators and collect evidence for EVERY student EVERY year in grades 3-11. Evidence has to be verified with the state at the end of grades 5, 8, and 11.

  13. Stages of Career Development • K-5: Awareness • Creating an awareness of the self through interests and abilities Finding the “Spark” • Grade 6-8: Exploringcareers and the labor market • “Exploring the “Spark” • Grade 9-12: Planning • Developing an Academic/Career Plan connected to the “Spark”
