  2. Simile : My Christmas tree • My Christmas tree this year is going to be as bright as the stars during winter nights. It’s going to be wonderful! Beautiful! Bright! Perfect. I will make it as perfect as a peach. It’s going to shine out of the window, all bright and festive. It’s going to be lit up every night from dark to light the tree will shine. • 1

  3. Metaphor : Blue Blue is the sea that has no pollution in it. Blue is the sky on a clear day with no clouds. Blue is the smurfs running around having fun; Blue is a M&M waiting to be eaten. Blue is the morpho butterfly soaring through the sky. Blue is a burning hot flame waiting to be extinguished. Blue is a lapis ore sitting in a mine. Blue is dawn dish detergent cleaning your clothes. Blue is a blueberry sitting in the fridge. Blue is the sapphire in your necklace at home. (Not you boys.) 2

  4. Alliteration Marvelous Mea makes magical mathematical machines moving mean malicious monkeys 3

  5. Hyperbole Every day I have to make my bed. If I don’t it will be messy and I will have to sleep in a messy bed. I don’t really care if it’s neat or messy buy my mom seems to do. I don’t get why she makes me do this impossible chore. It takes forever to do and I don’t care if it’s neat or messy.

  6. Onomatopoeia Bang! Crash! Boom! Ting! The sounds of a marching band were all around me. “Mom! Can we leave?” My brother asked loudly over all the noise. Of course my mom didn’t hear him over all the noise. “MOM! CAN WE LEAVE?” My brother yelled, his words drowned in the noise. Bang! Crash! Boom! Ting! My brother gave up and we silently watched the rest of the loud marching band walking through the streets of Pennington. 5
