  2. The Nordic Nations include: • Norway • Sweden • Finland • Denmark • Iceland

  3. Norden • Called “Norden” or North lands, the Nordic Nations occupy the same latitude as Alaska. • Their geography changes drastically from flat land to mountainous regions. • Climates include long winters and short summers.

The Land of Fire and Ice • Iceland has earned the nickname above because of its extreme geography. • Because it lies on the meeting place of 2 tectonic plates, volcanoes and hot springs are common here. • People use geothermal energy to do everything from heat their houses to keeping their streets de-iced.

  7. The Culture • Most Nordic people are Lutheran. • All 5 countries have mixed economies (Socialist). • All of their economies are based upon agriculture, fishing, oil & gas production, mining high-grade ores, and forestry.
