  1. Gigaffect To determine the microprocessor that best fit our project, our team first compiled a list of “tasks” that we would like the microprocessor to perform. Some of the tasks we found most important were: -High clock speed -Floating point multiplication capability -RAM support -LCD support -SD support After extensive research we found two processors that best fit the above criteria. Processor Comparison • Cirrus Logic Arm 9 • Clock Speed: 200 MHz • Advantages: • -Floating point multiplication • -External SDRAM/SRAM interface • Disadvantages: • -No SD support • -No LCD support • Analog Devices BlackfinADSP-BF512 • Clock Speed: 400 MHz • Advantages: • SD support • External controller for SDRAM • Disadvantages • No floating point multiplication support • No LCD support

  3. Processor Choice • We chose the Analog Devices Blackfin ADSPBF512 because of the higher clock speed. Both of the processors in the previous slide had some of the features we were looking for, but all of those features could be implemented in software except for the clock speed.
