Background David Price, Managing Director of Source It – Former Rotary Foundation Scholar (1985) Re-acquainted with Rotary late last year when asked to develop fundraising crocus for the End Polio Now Campaign Working with Rotarians and attending National Conference reminded of the extent and range of the Good Works performed by Rotary and personal debt of gratitude for opportunity given by Scholarship Desire to give something back by helping Rotary to raise funds and awareness

Source It Source It specialises in charity fundraising flowers Supplies Marie Curie Daffodils and display boxes for last 14 years Supply 10 million charity flowers each year Fundraising flowers = awareness and fundraising: Walking adverts: ‘what’s that?’ triggers conversation about charity MCCC’s Daffodils raises donations of £6 million pa Rotary crocuses could do the same

Rotary Crocus Planting for End Polio Now Campaign Lynn Mitchell, DG of 1120, wanted to build on the success of Rotary’s crocus planting Campaign by developing a fabric crocus Approached Source It in Nov. 2011 Marie Curie’s daffodil campaign developed in the same way - starting with real daffodils and then extending into fabric ones

  5. District 1120 Rotary Day 2012 Trial Source It developed a beautiful fabric crocus and display box Trial order of 25,000 crocuses Within weeks of delivery all crocuses distributed Around half the Districts in RIBI had heard about the trial and wanted sample boxes

  6. Great Success in terms of both Fundraising and Awareness • District 1120 has already re-ordered for Rotary Day 2013 District 1120 Rotary Day Trial Fundraising: £1 average donation per crocus Dartford Hospital – 500 crocuses distributed in just 2 hours

District 1120 Rotary Day Trial Awareness Raising Walking advert for End Polio Now and Rotary: ‘this close’ to eradication Every £1 raised = 4 children immunised / Every box of crocuses = one village immunised Huge reach as each crocus is likely to be worn for months (like Marie Curie’s Daffodil) triggering tens of conversations about Rotary Help to attract potential new Rotarians Now crocuses are being made available to all Districts for Rotary Day 2013

RIBI Rotary Day Crocuses Potentially one of RIBI’s biggest fundraising and awareness building tools Like Marie Curie Daffodil, the crocus could become the symbol of Rotary Day Once Polio eradicated crocus could be used to raise funds and awareness for other campaigns Will always be a reminder of Rotary’s greatest achievement – the eradication of Polio
