  1. Try not to have a good time…this is supposed to be educational. ~Charles M. Schultz Play with words Kimberly Carter CIS-40 Ages 11-19

  2. Humor. What should I know? • Humor and Laughter are actually good for you! • Laughter can help you in three ways: • Physically • Mentally • Socially Atheism is a non-prophet organization. ~George Carlin

  3. Laugh! It’s good for you! • Have you ever noticed when you laugh, you feel better not only mentally (more positive thoughts) but physically as well? • Studies show that laughter can make your whole body relax. • Laughing can relieve stress and tension for up to forty-five minutes! • Laughter can boost our immune systems by producing less stress hormones, and giving us more immune cells, this decreases our chance of getting diseases. • Endorphins are released when we laugh, thus giving us that warm, happy feeling.

  4. Laughter’s many benefits

  5. What can poems do? • Express feelings • Show a new perspective on a topic • Make us sound educated (it’s true!) • Give us hope The best way out is always through. ~Robert Frost

  6. Poems are like stories Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had really worn them about the same, The Road Not Taken By Robert Frost And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh , I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I- I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

  7. Poems can be emotional Two Hearts By Kimberly Carter Oh when will a day come where I see two instead of one? When the sun slowly rises in the east, And our two hearts racing blissfully together as they run. ‘tis the day when being one has ceased. This makes our lives so complete. As we walk around hearts beating lonely. And everyone is jealous at our tremendous feat. If only they knew…if only. We are compelled to find a place. That’s where we find each other, see, In each other’s hearts we face; A world where we find a satisfactory glee. You may not see it as I do, But if you do not, then who?

  8. Getting the message across • Laughter is a great thing that everyone should participate in daily. • Sometimes feelings come up that need a way of coming out; without hurting anyone. Poetry and quotes can help express the obvious or hidden feelings. • Writing is a great outlet for feelings that could cause actions of harmful or addictive behaviors.
