We laugh at the silly hot pink bow in my cousin’s perfect hair. “Are we there yet?” said my cousin as she fluffed her pillow. I woke up and said, “ Grandmamma, it was summer when I went to sleep. Now its winter; you’re freezing me!” Sisters fighting left and right, Snacks are missing. Where did they go? We fight for the backseat like a lions fight for food, Teasing and laughing at LYDIA, we wait for this long trip to end! We’re finally there! LET ME OUT OF THIS CAR! Caroline

  3. San Antonio San Antonio is hot in the summer But an Icee will cool you down. All the rides are fun and scary, And the Rollercoasters are fast. Don’t forget about the slides Faster than the speed of light Go to the river walk and have some delicious food, Barbeque and Mexican more than you can eat. Sea world is there too, even with Shamoo. All the shows and rides are exciting, And there’s lemonade to make your lips pucker up. Down town is amazing and very pleasing to see, With all the shops and restaurants it’s a very nice place to be. But don’t forget before you leave, The 3 Lb. cinnamon roll. It’s so sweet and yummy The giant roll can’t even fit in your tummy, Bigger than a birthday cake. Delicious! Chase

  4. Ode to Swim Practice 5:30 A.M. I wake up at 5:00 in a weary and dreary state. “I can’t go.” I tell myself I have to push on. Suddenly, after I drink my energy drink… I feel like the Energizer Bunny! I get to the pool at 5:25 to wait for the torture. The pool is so cold it feels like I could freeze. My legs and arms ache in pain as I soldier on. I’m halfway as I gasp for air. Then I’m off. After that set my arms are spaghetti. And my legs are Jell-O. At 7:20 I race my teammates. “Take your mark... go!” We race down the pool like dragsters. After we finish we gasp for air. Then I do warm down as I finally feel relived… When its all over, I heave a sigh of relief and eat a monstrous breakfast! Max

  5. Venturing to France Flying through Les Sables D’olonne! Slowly, we crept closer to the beach of Les Sables D’olonne reaching out for the sun’s beauty that day! Flying through Les Sables D’olonne! Repetitively, we listened to the sound of the crashing of the waves upon the wet sand below! Flying through Les Sables D’olonne! Loudly, we talked the whole way because of the horrible sound of cars honking at others who pass by like sly foxes! Flying through Les Sables D’olonne! Happily, we cheered for we were almost there although there awerestill a few tiring kilometers we walked to get there! Flying through Les Sables D’olonne! Humorously, a boy named Romuald started to giggle and something inside of him made him jiggle! Flying through Les Sables D’olonne! Finally, we got to the beach and started to tan our pale bodies, but some people thought that they wanted to just party! Flying through Les Sables D’olonne! Loving, the heat beating down on your face and the nice breeze that sent a chill of happiness throughout our bodies, we lay still in the heat as we bronzed our little feet. Flying through Les Sables D’olonne! Soothing, beach sounds driving through our eardrums easing us to the nice day at the beach! Leila

  7. Yosemite Curry Village Finally reaching our Destination, Yosemite Curry Village, after like 10 YEARS! Finding our room and sleepy, sloppy, slowly we fell asleep, Actively, I woke up and explored the Village; by the time I came back, it was 5pm. Later, we had nothing to do, so we rode in a Taxi Bus Limousine, Coyotes, Deer, Bears were all the animals we saw, Hungrily, we ordered pizza from the only restaurant in the Village. We ate the cheesy, spicy, sweet Pizza. I felt as if I hadn’t eaten in years. We finished the Pizza and were eagerly waiting for a presentation about wildlife, “Ohhhs” and “ahhhs,” I heard during the amazing presentation, We came back and were tired and finally ready to go to sleep. Last day of Yosemite went by fast. My favorite part of the trip was seeing the Magnificent Half Dome. The next thing I know we were boarding a plane back to Texas. Aahil

  8. Summertime On a warm night, in early summer, my grandparents waited for our arrival, They welcomed us with warm smiles, as well as with their hugs. Together we went to a forest that greeted us with trees tall, And with the lightning bugs shining as bright as the moon. We did exciting activities that my sister did not agree to like, We fished, feeling the breeze and the cold water splashing to cool the warmth of June, Also finding my sister can get motion sickness from a boat ride. Coming back, we carried no fish, but had fun anyway. Watching shows, going to museums, and moving through town, we saw far and wide. Too soon, we had to leave, at the beginning of a sunny new day. Leah

  9. Annoying Friend We were out in the middle of Nowhere, Texas, Every time I looked out the car window there were endless hills and valleys, Excitedly I saw the sign, MO Ranch, That is where I was going to spend the next week with my cousins and grandmother, I was not ready for the things to come. Days went by, Each day trying to spend as little time as possible with, My grandma’s friend’s grandson Rigle, To all of us each second was agonizing, Suddenly in the middle of the week came it got a whole lot worse. Trickery came from a knock at a door, Then it happened again at another door, Our beautiful peace was being tackled by some sort of annoyance. Stealthily we prepared to attack the monster, We watched him go back and forth till we found his heartbeat. We went to the door and grabbed the handle and, With shaking hands we flew open the door to see, Our problem. A small boy about 12 years old, It was my grandmother’s friend’s grandson. Quickly we attacked with all our force. He surrendered quickly running back to his layer. We picked up our weapons and books, We all hoped that was the last of, The Door Knocking Monster! Meghan

  10. Colorado’s Mountain Home A mountainside, cluttered with color, Trees talking to each other, Deer prancing one side to the other, People watching the beauty behind a shutter. A home tucked under a bridge of rocks, Adults wandering like babies that just learned to walk, All along the deathly edge of the falls. A child huddled against a mother, Wind cold against his skin, All, on the mountain tops of Colorado! Kim

  11. A Week in Yosemite! Finally, we arrived at the beautiful and high mountains of Yosemite, Silently, we took our entire luggage, and went to our room at Curry Village, Tired, we took a cozy and warm sleep like a babies with their blanky, Annoyingly, squirrels squeaked and woke me up way too early on a Sunday morning, Quietly, I woke each of my siblings and whispered, “I see a big black bear, come on let’s look at it!” Impatiently, my siblings and I dashed out the door like bolts of lightning and watched for what was not there, Extremely, they got mad, “Why did you wake us up?” Worrying, I ran inside and acted as if I hadn’t done anything and ignored them, Thankfully, I reached back in time for breakfast, as hungry as a bear not eating for several days, Sadly, the day came, the last day at the mountains of Yosemite, my eyes were as sad as a tree with no leaves. 12. A Summer to Remember Flying over the gleaming nation, Awestruck with the views of the rolling West Virginia hills, and the gleam of light that shined of the morning dew like sun on a mirror. Captivated with the gleaming lights and signs of Las Vegas Blvd. while dreading the smell ofsmoke and the chattering of people telling how much they lost. Entranced by the gleaming sun over the frigid Seattle water, waiting for clouds to fill the sky and for the rain to pour down, but alas, I savor the moment. Entrapped in the joy of Legoland, California, I walk through the park. Though I realized that I nolonger fit in any of the rides on the premises and that I was the oldest child there. Butbased off of the five past summers there, I felt that Legoland was a five year success. Sadly, after three short days, I trudged back into school from my only three month summer, But I also have something to look forward to in nine more months. Next summer, here I come! Chip

  13. The Wedding at San-Fran Impatiently, my siblings and I were jumping around like little kangaroos for the plane ride to San Francisco with my cousins! We were going to San Francisco for my cousins wedding! I was so excited it felt as if my heart was going to jump out of my throat! Finally, we all boarded onto the plane. I sat on the comfy blue chair next to the window which showed the workers putting the bags on the bottom of the plane. I sat right next to my cousin! Frazzled, we all got off the 4-hour plane ride at 1 in the morning! My worn out parents wanted to go to the hotel and go to sleep. But, my cousin, my siblings, and I wanted to go eat. Dying of hunger, we all made our way to a 24-hour restaurant near the hotel at 2 in the morning. Forced by my parents and my aunt and uncle, who wanted to go to look at the “main” attractions in San Francisco, told us to come with them and take pictures and look around the city. Click! Click! Went our cameras, IPhones, and Ipads. The whole family was posing in front of the Golden Gate Bridge! Everybody was staring at us as if we were the craziest people in the world! (which some of us were….) Ahhhh! I screamed as I thought I was falling of the rocks. My cousins and I were all running and jumping from rock to rock by a river. The rocks were as gray as the moon at night. They seemed like weird-looking gray rocky rocks! We were all racing each other on the rocks even though my mother told us not to. Luckily no one fell into the water! Mmmmm! YUM! I said as I finally got my Ghirardelli chocolate and chocolate ice cream! We were at Ghirardelli’s, a Manufacturer and marketer of chocolate products since 1852 store. The chocolate was like a smooth delicious river! It was like heaven was singing to me! After that delicious treat, we all got back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding! Narmeen and I were both very excited! Looking very pretty, my family and I were in the car and on our way to the Wedding hall. When we finally got there, we met the bride and the groom. They were looking very cute together! This was one of my favorite vacations ever! (Even though I had to miss the last day of School…) I will never forget this vacation and wedding ever! Neha
