  1. IEEE CS LEAD IEEE COMPUTER SOCIETY Leadership and Professional Development Student Chapter Interested in having a successful career in computing, information technology, computer science, or information systems? What about also becoming an entrepreneur? Learn what it takes to succeed and acquire the skills you need by joining the UTEP IEEE-CS LEAD Student Chapter. We invite you to attend our meetings. • Next Meeting Agenda: • Introduction: IBM/IEEE Smarter Planet Challenge: Student Projects Changing the World • Idea Generation Instrumented. Interconnected. Intelligent. A Smarter Planet has intelligence infused into the systems and processes that make the world work, infused into things no one would recognize as computers: cars, appliances, roadways, power grids, clothes — even agriculture and waterways. In this session, Dr. Ann Gates will talk about the IBM/IEEE Smarter Planet Challenge and related student projects. Both IBM and IEEE are interested in finding innovative team projects where students apply their knowledge in engineering, science, and other disciplines to provide solutions for real world problems. She will also discuss student participation in the up-coming Smarter Planet Challenge, the support to be provided by the IEEE CS LEAD Chapter to student teams, and involvement of IBM Students For a Smarter Planet in the Bonnaroo Music Festival. Dr. Gates will also teach brainstorming techniques using Idea Generation as the goal. UTEP September 2011 Do you want to be in the team that makes a difference at Bonnaroo?
