An employer may employ a child who is over the age of fourteen years to do light work which is not harmful to the health or normal development of the child, and is not such work as will affect the attendance of the child at school or his or her capacity to benefit from the instruction given to him or her therein. Whenever an employer employs a child during school terms, the hours of work of the child shall be outside school hours and shall be not more than two hours on any day, other than a Saturday or a Sunday, and not more than fourteen hours in any week, provided that if a child is required to work for more than two hours on a Saturday, he or she shall not work on the next following Sunday.
