  13. “Captain’s Practices” • What are they… • Senior players may organize a series of dates & times to practice • They are optional • They are a good way to get out, meet other kids and get in shape • They are not used as a criteria for making a team • Usually is no adult supervision

Chemical Health Policy Chemical Health/Alcohol/Drugs/Tobacco Section 62.1 From the earliest fall practice date, to the conclusion of the academic year or final athletic event (whichever is latest), a student shall not, regardless of the quantity, use, consume, possess, buy/sell, or give away any beverage containing alcohol; any tobacco product; marijuana; steroids; or any controlled substance. This policy includes products such as “NA or near beer”. It is not a violation for a student to be in possession of a legally defined drug specifically prescribed for the student’s own use by his/her doctor.

  15. Chemical Health Policy Chemical Health/Alcohol/Drugs/Tobacco Penalties First violation: When the Principal confirms, following an opportunity for the student to be heard, that a violation occurred, the student shall lose eligibility for the next consecutive interscholastic contests totaling 25% of all interscholastic contests in that sport. No exception is permitted for a student who becomes a participant in a treatment program. It is recommended that the student be allowed to remain at practice for the purpose of rehabilitation. Second and subsequent violations: When the Principal confirms, following an opportunity for the student to be heard, that a violation occurred, the student shall lose eligibility for the next consecutive interscholastic contests totaling 60% of all interscholastic contests in that sport.

  16. Hazing & Harassment HARASSMENT Harassment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, sexual orientation or disability in any form will not be tolerated. Such harassment includes unsolicited remarks, gestures or physical contact, display or circulation of written materials or pictures derogatory to either gender or to racial, ethnic, religious, age, sexual orientation or handicapped individuals or groups. HAZING Hazing is defined as any conduct or method of initiation into any student organization, which willfully or recklessly endangers the physical or mental health of any student or person. Incidents of hazing must be reported to the appropriate law enforcement officials as soon as reasonably practicable.
